Your summer adventure begins close to home. This scenic stretch of highway goes for more than 80 miles on Idaho Highway 3 and Interstate 90 and winds through the Palouse. The magnificent Sawtooth Mountains were where Ernest Hemmingway spent some of the last years of his life. Your journey begins in Shoshone, Idaho at U.S. Highways 26 and 93. You can then head north on Highway 75 and visit the fascinating Shoshone Ice Caves and Sculptured Canyon. A must-see is the Ernest Hemingway Memorial in Ketchum. Heading over Galena Pass, you can enjoy the great outdoors in the Sawtooth National Recreation Area. Travel further north to Redfish Lake. It is Idaho’s largest and deepest alpine lake, featuring a variety of outdoor activities, including fishing, hiking, camping, and horseback riding.
