2016 Low-Effort Halloween Costume Ideas that will Win the Party

Isn’t Halloween just the best? All of the yards in the neighborhood are decorated with spooky props, the candy bowl is filled to the rim, your masterpiece of a jack-o’-lantern is prominently displayed on the front porch, and the annual Halloween party is just a few hours away. There’s just one problem; what are you going to wear?

Every year, without fail, it is the same story. You come across brilliant idea after brilliant idea between the months of November and September, but come October 31st all of those ideas have either been long forgotten or taken by your neighbor or one of your family members.

Well we here at Knudtsen Chevrolet, your local Post Falls Chevy dealer, know your pain and want to help. That is why we have created this handy list of last-minute, low-effort, high-reward DIY Halloween costume ideas that are sure to be a hit among your friends.

Captain Kirk Halloween Costume Idea

Captain Kirk

We all know that Halloween has become more about culturally relevant and humorous costumes rather than scary ones, so dressing up as Captain Kirk from Star Trek, one of the largest blockbuster hits of 2016, is the perfect last-minute option. If you aren’t familiar with the Star Trek franchise, then you have been living under a rock for the last 50 years.

The simple, solid colored uniform is recognizable by people who have never even seen an episode and if you can muster up a half-decent William Shatner impression, then all the better.

What you’ll need:

Any solid-colored long-sleeve T-shirt

A toy alien gun

Star Trek logo (even a paper print out will work)

Solid black pants

Beyoncé

Queen B is on top of the world right now. Her most recent masterpiece, Lemonade, marks her 6th Billboard 200 number one album. The great thing about Beyoncé is that it’s never only about the music with her.

For her most recent album she rocked gorgeous thick dreadlocks and a luxurious fur coat that would be perfect for a Halloween costume, but if time is a factor then you may not have time to braid your hair or buy a 500 dollar fur coat. Instead, use one of the many of her recent iconic looks like the “Drunk in Love” Beyoncé.

What you’ll need:

A hair straightener

Swimming suit

Some sort of cover-up

Surfboard (optional)

Snapchat Filters Halloween Costume idea

Snapchat Filters

Walk into any high school or college in America and you are guaranteed to see droves of young adults making strange faces at their phone. They aren’t having Muscle spasms, they are using Snapchat filters, and chances are you are too. If somehow you aren’t familiar with Snapchat then allow us to explain.

Snapchat is a photo sharing app that allows you to take and send photos that disappear after being viewed while using a bunch of different types of filters including everything from a dog nose and ears to hearts for eyes to puking rainbows. It sounds crazy I know, but download the app and you will understand. The most costume-friendly filter is most likely the “Greek God” filter that surrounds your head with a golden halo/crown and includes golden sparkles running down the screen.

What you’ll need:

Makeshift golden crown

Gold glitter

A TON of makeup

Life-size wearable phone shaped cardboard cut-out (optional)

Captain Sully

Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger is a modern-day American hero and airline pilot that famously landed an Airbus A320 in the middle of the Hudson River, saving all 155 passengers and staff on board. He is also the subject of the highly successful September 2016 film “Sully” where his likeness is portrayed by the extremely talented Tom Hanks.

This costume is almost silly with how effortless it is, yet it still manages to be relevant and stylish which is the name of the game.

What you’ll need:

Black sport coat

White button down collared shirt

Black pants

Black tie

Yellow tape

White temporary hair dye

Airman’s wings (optional)

Plastic toy plane (optional)
