The 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) will run for two weeks beginning on January 14th, and it is looking like Chevy’s new pickup truck is going to be the big feature. The media will be lining up to view and report on the exclusive auto show presentations, and among the exhibits, they have been clamoring for is the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500. In particular, Chevy rumors have left all of us excited to see what’s in store for the Z71 Trail Boss model, which is set to be a completely new take on the standard pickup design.
A Fierce Competitor to the F-150
General Motors has tantalized journalists and industry personalities for two years with rumors of how they’ll unseat with the F-150 from the throne, and we may very well finally see those rumors come to fruition when they officially unveil the new Silverado at this year’s Detroit Auto Show. This was a response to speculation by many pundits that the pickup truck bonanza of the past few years would somehow wind to a close. However, GM has steered away from this dark, gloomy forecast, and have plans to lean heavily on the 2019 Silverado 1500 when it becomes their flagship for the upcoming years.
What Will the 2019 Silverado Have?
One of the features that the media has been looking forward to is the new carbon-fiber-reinforced bed in the 2019 Chevy Silverado. This newly designed high-durability bed is likely to reduce the vehicle’s overall weight and raise its fuel economy. However, it’s rumored that the carbon fiber raises the price tag in comparison to the earlier models with aluminum beds; it’ll be interesting to see how Chevrolet markets any price increase.
Chevy owns the second best-selling US pickup truck on the market right behind the F-150. Recognizing the snub of the consistent second-place award, GM has stepped up their game with the 2019 Silverado by adding features like this new carbon fiber bed and frame, and those who have already had a look at the latest Chevy Silverado have noted that it looks dramatically different from the Ford truck.
Other rumored specs include a modest boost in fuel economy and towing capacity, making the Silverado a true day-to-day work truck that should rival even the full-size models in the segment. Bold and beautiful, the 2019 Silverado should make Chevy lovers happy.
